I have an old PS3 fat that needs its laser replaced, it will work normally and with DVDs but once a bluray is inserted it will read it for ~2-5 min before it freezes. I have tried cleaning the lense manually and with one of those disc doctor cleaners you put into the drive. I noticed the store here lists them but they are always out of stock.
I have read that there are two different types of replacements, one is supposidly th legit one (Brown cable strap or whatever) and the other is a cheap knock off (white cable strap thing). What are your opinions on those reliability-wise. I have seen both floating around the web and both are reasonibly priced, im just leery of sites im not familiar with.
Where is a good legitimate place to purchace one of these replacments, i have to check again but i believe i have the 400 laser.
