Mic activated VU Cube - W.I.P
« on: October 09, 2012, 06:30:41 AM »
Hey guys..

So this is a project i started on a while ago, I have been messing around with the idea and thoughts on how I'm going to do this..

Basically what I'm going to do is run a Mic on a LM386 Amplifier and the output of this Goes To a LM3196 Led VU driver.. And all this in a small plexi glass cube..
This is just for the fun.. and I maybe want to build a boombox later with a full scale VU on the Side..

So far I've Drawn Schematics For the LM386 Pre-Amp and the LM3916 VU LED driver.

This is the LM386 Pre-Amp Schematic:

This is the LM3916 VU LED driver schematic:

I'll be updating as I go along, this is quite a long term project so this thread will be still for a while... :p
Thought i'll show you guys what i'm up to.

This is a very cool project. I'm currently working on building a mini-portable guitar amp. My pre-amp is a bit different from yours, but still uses the LM386 for amplifying the sound.
