Executioner WIP xbox

Here is a WIP Xbox that I'm doing. It had the open tray error so I replaced the laser in the drive. While I had it apart I figured I'd do up the case a bit.

I've been big into BF3 here lately so I figured id make a BF3 themed xbox.

I cut a grenade into the side and put a plexi window in it then used my dremel to etch the I Executioner dog tag into it.







havent decided on what color LED's ill be sticking in there yet. I'll post the finished pics when im done .

Dood awesome job love the etch of the tag on the plexi.

I think white or Red might look good but it all determines on your color scheme for the shell.

Thanks man! it was actually my first time trying to etch something with my dremel. Yeah i'm thinking white also. Maybe ill try green too and see how that looks

I know that that is not really easy. Looks real good. possibly could be just a little deeper since you dont have any shading. At that that depth it may not pick up the light like you are wanting.

yeah the one where im holding the LED up to it was the first one i did on a spare piece of plexi just to see how it would turn out, so i didnt go very deep with it but the second one thats already in place on the xbox case i went a bit deeper and it seems to pick up the light better then the first one. Ive put red, green, UV purple, white, blue, yellow and pink LED's up to it. Im trying to decide between the green, blue and red right now as they look the best on it.

well I did a test on the different colors ( only used one LED for the test so it will be much more bright once i put more).

Red


Pink(looks purple in the picture)


Yellow(very dim with only one led)


Green(very bright with one led)

Looks good you should post this in a seperate  section in Xbox 360 section. and make a work in progress post.  to keep this thread for showing your finished xbox 360 .

Well the xbox is all finished now except for the faceplate. I still need to paint it black. Here is a picture of the window with SMD strips on it. for some reason the green kept showing up yellowish when i took a picture with the case all together so here is a pic of it when it was still apart.

Ill upload a picture of the finished thing when i go on my lunch today.

next up is a HDD case with etched window and green leds to match the console.

Very nice, the light is very strong. I know it looks a whole lot better in person lol So black and green sounds like a good color combination

the way i wired it up was different then i normally do. I used the battery pack that came with the smd strips. usually I would solder it straight to the board but I had this xbox in a sweet spot so didnt want to take it apart and have to fight with it again so i did it like this for now, and when it messes up later down the road then ill wire them up to the motherboard.

but all in all I love the way it turned out. now to paint the face plate.

Defiantly looks awesome looks great for sure love how bright that light came out. Take shots of the front with the side panel Very good etching job looks very professional.

Well I've started working on a new controller. Instead of starting another thread I figured i'd put it here.

right now its just the top as i'm not sure what i want the bottom to be or any of the trim, but so far so good.

this picture it only had 2 coats of clear.

Looking good there Brennidon, Love the gold metal flakes. You need to lean the controller to see how it refracts the lights. But its nice and smooth and shiny for two clear coats Can not wait to see how it looks like in the end.

Well the top part of the shell is all done. I put it together with some random trim pieces till i can figure out what color i want the trim to be.





i think it turned out pretty decent. It coulda used a few more coats of clear though.

Its Mocha Frost Metallic I believe. Saw it at advance and had to try it out lol. now to figure out what color to do the trim

In the light it has a nice golden look to it thought it was gold metal flake but in the dime inside light it has a copper tone to it. I do agree with vision go flat black. Might give it another coat of clear I know 2 is thin though it looks awesome as it 1 more coat won't hurt

yeah it has about 5 coats of clear on it atm i was thinking black too.
