Jdm-001 strange drift
« on: April 19, 2021, 04:47:46 PM »
I received ps4 controller jdm-001 with analog problems, that is if i move them at first they seem to be fine, but then as if the movements have lag, sometimes they stop on one side and as i move the cursor they get stuck in another zone, I did the reset and I changed the internal disks of the sensors but still nothing, has it ever happened to you? I would like to be sure they are analogs before unsoldering them. Or is it a power problem?

do you have pictures of the board and your solder joints?

the potentiometers should have 10kOhm out of circuit and around 2.5ish in circuit, I've had problems when replacing the potis due to corrosion on the solder points on the board, only saw that with a microscope, but on zooming in it looked like the solder on the pin didn't melt to the solder on the board/via.

the sensors of the controllers measure 2.28ish on circuit and I believe they have never been changed by the appearance of the welds

Thanks for the video, I get this problem when trying to replace the analog sticks with cheap clones from china.

Changing the "disc", do you mean the "wiper"? (middle pin on the poti)

If so, you should check if it is placed properly.

If the actual resistive track was damaged, changing the wiper should not have any benefit, so there should be no real improvement between before and after.
