1708 - Solder pads missing
« on: June 28, 2021, 06:32:40 PM »
Does anyone know where the jumper wire should go on the missing pads? They are circled in red on the image.  :fear:

Sorry but the link led to nowhere. Do you have another link?

Nice work!

Do you have this connection points for missing pads of the other analogic?

Thanks!

By the way, I had a controller pushing up.

I have made a jumper from LSY to TP63, and it fixed the problem.  Thanks! :winker:

Then I got another controller, with a lot of missing pads, and tried to make new jumpers.

But this controller has a BIG problem.... Other than LSY missing pad, also TP63 is missing (bad work from another guy!)

So, I tried to make a jump from LSY to the hole next the missing TP63, but the controller continues pushing up.... The left and right jumper to TP164 is working.

Any ideas?

You can use the solder points directly from the main chip (the MCU) I've done this kind of work before.
Take a look at this work I made.

Nice work, bakachelera!

So, in this case I can solder LSY directly to the SOC board, as you did, right?

I did it too, but my controller is still pushing up. As there is no island, as LSX, I have to solder LSY to the other side of MCU, right?

There is a hole (the second above the T64 writing) that connects LSY to the other side of MCU.

I have made a connection from LSY to pin 53 of SOC board, as suggested.

As you can see, I also have a connection from LSX to TP64.

Right and left of this analogic is working as expected, but it still pointing to up....  :cry2:

Any idea???

Clean that mess up on the center lead of the Y-axis POT, becasue it sure looks like you have the thing shorted to ground, at a couple of places, which would cause it to act that way.

You were right!  :fear:

It was a great mess in that pot. I tried to remake the broken track, but it was shorted to ground.... So, I removed it.

Leaving only the connection from  LSY to pin 53 of SOC it worked as expected.

Thanks!!!!

I managed to make this destroyed board comes to live again thanks to your help!

Well, not all is working.... B button is not working....

Do you known how to test it? I find that it is linked to pin 15 of POC (thru R29, 100)

https://www.acidmods.com/RDC/XB1/1708/1708_SOC.txt

I read that it is linked to TP41 (thru 100ohm), but I couldn't find it.

https://acidmods.com/forum/index.php?topic=43981.0

Can you give some more advice?  :help

Image of the button.

It seems the left side is not in contact with his track...

All there is to B is the contacts, R29 then the SOC board, and the traces that connect everyhting.

Not really a great pic to try and diagnose from, but it looks like the carbon contact material (the black stuff) is missing. You'd have to use a conductive pen or rear window defogger repair kit to 'easily' try and fix that.

Sorry about the picture. I think this new one is better....

What do you suggest me to do? Can I solder a thin wire to link the left side to its track?

It seems the solder at right is not connected to the carbon, because there is no resistence between it and the gray rounded track at the bottom.

Both sides of that look damaged. You can not solder to that black carbon coating and you will only further damage it trying. Already mentioned what you will need to try and repair that.

Yes that kind of thing.

If you really looked for it, you'd have found it, on the bottom of the board pretty much where the B buttons is.

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong side....  :whoosh:

Now I found it!

So, I will try this conductive glue.

Hope it works...

Ps. Good news it that from left side of the button there is continuity to R29. Bad news is that TP41 is missing in this controller, and I have to make a jump from it to pin 15 of SOC.

If TP41 is missing then that will also kill the B button. Just prep that via under TP41 and jumper wire from that to the bottom of R29.

Yes, TP41 is missing. The via from R29 to TP41 must be jumped to pin 15 of POC, right?
