Laptop fails to power up
« on: December 14, 2007, 12:12:30 AM »
It just fails to power up, initially I had a problem with teh adapter, so I did a continuity test on it and foudn that the resistance was through the roof.  So I resoldered the damaged pieces and reassembled the laptop now it's not powering up at all.

The lights flash but nothing happens.  Also I haven't used the laptop in the past 6 months because of the power problems.

Also laptop is a Dell Inspirion 1300

Sounds like the apdapter is kaputt and the battery is dead at the mo. Try borrowing a dell adapter from someone else (they are pretty common - at least in the UK) and see if it works with that.

Done.

I changed the adapter twice... now I have 2 adapters minus the 3rd one which I sent back to Dell.

Changed the battery.

Opened up the whole thing, tested the internal adapter and found out that the pin wasn't connecting properly so I resoldered it.  I reassembled it, and the charging light went on but it failed to start up.

Now I reopened it, reassembled it again now the charging light fails to turn on.  This laptop stinks.
