my dads laptop

so im trying to fix my dads laptop. its a toshiba satellite m45. when i power it up, nothing happens. nothing happens as in the screens black and nothing changes. i tried putting in the toshiba restore cd and restarting, the dvd drive lights up then turns off. there is a wifi switch with an led, ive put it to on and it usually lights the led but no action at all with that. what happened? i tried asking my dad and hes clueless...

Sounds like either the motherboard or PCU is shot

Theres also a possibility that the powerjack has gone bad, and that it cant give enough power for it to turn on, but i suspect that the motherboard has given up on u, you should try to find your warranty
