if you could do any i would seriously be suprised but my favs out of the list would be
- self heating/cooling
- waterproof psp

waterproof wouldnt be that hard, all you would have to do, is find a way to seal ALL edges so the water couldnt get in

but for the heating/cooling, would be like watercooling, hard as hell to fit in but would be :censored: ing awesome if you could get it to work

Self charging would have a transformer in it which would be powered by the battery, as the transformer spins, it would create friction (power) :)
Water proofing would be a very fun mod to do, but dangerous until i get it right :) Would need to buy a busted psp...
And Water Pumping Would Be By Far My Favourite Mod To Do, Green Tubes And Stuff In The Water So It Is Easy To Tell That The Water Is Moving XD

waterproof ftw.. i play in bath with my psp anyway (luckily have been safe until now), but if it would be waterproof, i would have no probs playing.

also self recharging - maybe with sun batteries?

fingerproof and psx/divx reading are also kewl

I was considering solar panels for the Self charging PSP, but it wouldnt work in all situations. where as a transformer would always work, Everyone See http://www.gcsescience.com/pme23.htm for how the concept would work.

waterproofing would be a great mod after the water pumping.
Both are great.

i don't know if you have started the water pumping or have a plan on pumping it but their are very small motors that can pump the water around with no trouble and use little power i cant find them again i think they were at and air condition supply place. they were cheap too i was going to use them for a case i was building for my computer but i spent the money on a graphics card so my case never was finished.

you may be able to add the self recharging mod to this too. water flows ,spindle spins, friction created, power.

great list of posible mods some have potential to make it though seriously i would be worried having water running in the psp as one minor leak could kill the whole console...but some great ideas gud luck on trying em. If you do get some of em working i will be sure to try em out. Good work :#1: :yess:

Hmm i like the idea of a self powered PSP.
Though i don't understand how you think you would make it work.
I really much understand the physics of a transformer, but i don't understand what it has to do whit this mod.

First of, you know the size of a transformer?
Second, you know the heat generated from a transformer?
Third, you know that you need AC power in on the transformer to get anything out?

The Transformer Was Just A Suggestion For The Power, Just Something To Small And Friction Creating Will Work...

I don't think you understand the concept of energy, "Energy is converted from one form to another, but it is never created or destroyed." Where would you get the power from, a magical moving ball inside a casing? You could buy a kinetic power supply, but then you would have to sake your psp to charge it... i think your to lacy to shake it for 4hours none stop, to get 30min playtime. none the less it would be hard to fit the kinetic psu
Other option could be to capture the heat of your hands... you wont be able to get a small enough PSU into the psp, and the capturing module would look ugly and bulky on the psp. and the problem is, that you might get 5 min more play time out of 2hours playing...

You do need to charge your PSP, or els everyone would get free electric power the rest of their life, the only thing that would work is an external solar charger, that would be just as time consuming to do as to use the regular charger, and even slower charging, and you would only be able to do it on a sunny day with clear skies...

If you have some magical way to create power, tell me i want free power!!!

PSP + clear plastic bag with waterproof lid = waterproof
any other way would be to risky, you could brush silicone on all the electric parts, but the charging would be a mess, not to mention the battery.
waterproofing the case would be to risky IMO, and it could end up looking horrible.

good luck i suppose

ive seen at a electronics, robotics, packaging, and medical expo a company that applied a coting of some type (i cant remember what it was might have been Teflon) to PCB's the could control the thickness of what they applied to the number of atoms and what it did was basically water proof the electronics. they had a little lcd display siting in a tank of water running ads on it at there display. but what they mainly did was coat medical electronics that would have to be put in side people. they also did it for electronics that were exposed to adverse weather conditions so that they would not corrode. ill see if i cant fined the brochure i got from them

just think of all the noob's believing he will actually fit a dvd tray on the psp and make it work. The PSP does not even know how to playback dvd formated movies. And about the psx gamez, you know you have to convert them to eboot's right?

a tip to PSPotential, not everything works by just applying duct-tape

I know a awesome solution instead of a transformer....solar power...you could put the panels on the top psp where the L and R is. It obviously won't work at night though lol. I could maybe photo shop what I mean...yea, I'll post it in a second. I don't know the technical parts to it though because I haven't done any mods to my psp aside from firmware.

here is my concept of where the panels could go

Hey there!

Gathering free energy to charge the PSP some kind of cool idea :)

Well, there are to types that probably would do work:

1. the easiest one is some mixture of orgon gathering and "frequency catching"

here the principle:
take a isolated metal square as a + pole and connect it with a ground. you'll get some current out of it.

why?
I think mostly through electro magnetic waves coming from devices. But maybe also some orgonic thing is behind this. cause the isolater-metal combination is also used in orgon-accumulators to gather orgon energy...

2. well ok... don't know how to build this one ;)
but I saw something that was driven by an static magnet.
Could work something like this:
get 1 spoil and 1 condensator. just connect them, so they will charge each other alternatingly (well, suppose that there will be losses)
now put a magnet on the spoil, so you hype the magnetic field produced from the spoil and get more current out of it, when breaking down.
This round it would work (maybe just produced by some kind of lorentz force), but I don't know what will happen the next round charging the spoil and building up a magnetic field. how much influence does the magnet has? etc...

Also on the vid I saw some kind of magnet driven cuircut it got really shaky after some time...

next and important question: how much does the psp battery rely on stable, static voltage/current input?
what happens when you charge it with 2V instead of 5V?
well, the current wouldn't take much impact I think...

well, with the first method you wouldn't get that much out of it, that you could play non stop I think. But just put it somewhere while sleeping and it's kind of recharged would be great :)
and in the backplate behind the umd door there would be enough space to put such an isolated plate for energy gathering...

so... ok
does anyone know how to stabilize this voltage?
I just thought of some kind of condensator charging and through that charge the battery...
but I'm not that good in electrical engineering...

hope for good ideas :)
 bye

defenitly the biometric scanner.  and if you could make it auto power on after the correct print was scanned that would be sweet. leave the power/ hold switch to do more important tasks

An air transformer could charge the PSP, also using radio waves that are cooking us from cell phones to AM-FM radio broadcasts...  There is also a natural occurring frequency coming from everywhere, but...  Anyway, just like RFID scanners and stuff, the air transformer can charge the PSP just by being near a high frequency power source and the circuit is very simple and easily found on the web.  Cool ideas, would be nice to see them implemented...

I'm liking the ideas.
The water pumping sounds awesome, and maybe use a small deal of oil and water so that its easier to see.
I also have been working on a way to get the PSP to self charge, I am using a slightly different approach. If I can get it working I'll write a Tutorial on it. if not then it becomes vapor wear lol

Kudos for all the nifty Ideas  :hifive:

That sucks the quality and the price for that water proofing just doesn't work to well. There is hardly a guarantee that it will even work lol.
