% of the resistor?
« on: January 20, 2008, 01:46:49 PM »
Hey i am just wondering what the percentage of the resistor means. There is always the resistence e.g 10ohm and then ther is e.g 5% written after it.  What does it stand for and does it have any impact on how much the resistor lowers the current?

It means tolerance, and yes it has a slight impact, it means the resistance might be different by 5%, but that's nothing to worry about.

more expensive resistor's often has less tolerance, though just buy what ever suits your budget, it would not make a difference while only using LEDs

I think that is how big the resistor actually is, for modding surface mount are the best (1/4 or 1/8)
