PSP-Tracking Device
« on: February 08, 2008, 02:52:08 PM »
I was reading one of gameking21's replies and he said his PSP got stolen. Then I had the idea, "What if you put one of those dog-gps chips in the PSP. That way, if you ever lost it or it was stolen, you could find it. Anyone else think that this is a good idea?

Man i think this would be the best thing to do. I would do this mod in a heart beat.
Would you use the psp power or add a lithium battery that run all the time. It would not work if the battery of the psp was removed.

in case you didn't know there are homebrews for this, but not gps enabled

http://dl.qj.net/PSP-Anti-Theft-System-(PATS)-3-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/8145/catid/151

something to consider for all those that use their's in public regularly

but for an internal gps it could be a problem, as far as getting a signal inside the casing

Probally a lithium battery so it will always function.

An extra-long wire that goes around the inside casing of the PSP. If you want to get super fancy, add some kind of device that will have range extended when it goes near a wireless device. :dntknw:

would you need a clear case for the wire?

I don't think so :dntknw:. Also, a great addition to this mod idea would be prettierwendead's idea. Those to things put together would make your PSP an unstealable pimp.

Now im not a psp modder but you could have a rechargeable lithium battery so when the psp is on it will charge. And you could find a way to hook it up by using like the wifi thing.

I was thinking about that, but I don't really know how to do that. I'm not really a hardware modder, more of a software modder. But that doesn't mean I can't do any of these things (Except that I striped a screw :cry2:).

I know there are some security startup homebrew programs you could also put on your PSP so if your PSP is turned on, the person would have to know the combination to play.

Ya that would be a prob getting the signal out of the case. and the space issue but then again how do they put the tracking devices on the paintings i forgot. they have some sort of tracking device like a gsp that is very thin and small don't think they cost much oooh brain glitch. i knew some one who used them for all their art they had. it enables the police to track it sort of like a low jack.

That would be the day. still this is very possible some said they program well we need some on to program the signal sequence that is used like when they do money exchanges with hostage and so forth they have on the web some where cant remember where. i think it was on a security hacking and programing web site. it was a good site cant find the link lost it with my HDD failure a few month back. I might be able to ask my Uncle or my dads best friend if h they can get it. My uncle was running for under sheriff. hes really high up their in the ranks. Or we could try to befriend a programmer that works for the low jack company. lol

but would the lithium battery work for power and i dont think the signal would be too much of a problem if you are able to get a wire running the length of the psp.

i would just hook it up to the internals of the psp if they can steal it from yea the probs wont open it up. and then it would never run out of batteries always running off psp when its on.
theyl;l wonder why the charge is less butll have no idea.

Ken i wouldnt have done it any other way
