Homeaid SOCOM Mic help

This seems like an easy set-up, but I can't get it to work. So I will explain what I did:

1. Got the parts:
PSP


Old Computer Mic


Y-Jack


PSP Remote


Speakers


2. I put the PSP Remote in the PSP


3. Put the Y-Jack into the PSP Remote


4. Plug the Mic into one of the Y-Jacks


5. Plug the other Y-Jack into the Speakers

I went on SOCOM to try it out and it worked a little. One of the people could kinda hear me (He told me to stop mumbling, lol), but noone else responded. I opened a room if anyone wants to see if they can hear anything. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has them.

I got it back when I was 7 when my family got our first computer. It ran Windows 95. If anyone has the stuff to recreate my setup or something similar, can you please do it and try it out. You can use Talkman also to try to get it to work.

I don't fully understand mics, but is it possible this mic requires more power than the socom mic

and if so there would have to be a preamp

Ok... I'm not the best with mics either. In that case, what should I use?

EDIT: I think the mic needs a power sorce. I hooked the mic directly to the speakers and it didn't make any sound. How would I hook it up to a source so it would work?

a little searching around it seems pc microphones need about 1.5v, but I have no clue what the voltage is for the psp socom mic

I'm kinda at a stand still. The only other way I think I can get it to work is if I plug the mci into the computer have the computer go to my PSP.

the problem lies in the connector you are using, the SOCOM headset uses a 4 conductor plug, they Y-connector you are using is only a 3 conductor plug. try checking this '05 thread from the PSU CLICK HERE

that's pretty much what you need to do to get it working properly and all the information you need should be in that thread...
