« on: March 16, 2008, 10:42:13 AM »
Hi i was wondering if the wireless adapter would work ex: hosting a game on gears of war, if it would stop/ reduce game lag for other players.

My speeds are very slow  :cry2:

Download: 730 kbps (Kilobytes per second)
Upload: 134 kbps (Kilobytes per second)
Ping: 100
Internet Service Provider: http://www.earthlink.net

Ul and Dl speeds checked at http://www.speedtest.net/

 Any help please thanks

Well, the required upload speed for XBL is 716kbps. (I found this out while sitting on the phone for 30 minutes) All the wireless adapter is going to do is slow it down...

you cannot change your speeds, they are limited by the cable connecting your house to the switchbox, a better router may add a little, but if you want more speed you need new cables outside!

skull, unless they installed fibre optics, upping your speed package will do nothing, they will charge you for no change. If you want speed look into getting fibre optics

no, I dont have fiber obtic cable and I have faster internet. Like the internet company I go through, they have different packages of speeds they had one that had less than 1meg download and upload and I went for the better stuff 6meg

Not really, or at least for DSL.  It's mainly the Modem, typically the firmware, you can actually mod a modem to download any from 4MB to 30MB (maximum), but surely your ISP will quickly catch on and you will not just loose your service but get a fee and a nice criminal charge as well....
