Resistors for a PS2 V7 fat mod

I have already cut windows into my PS2 and would like to add LED's to the DVD drive area, heatsink, and underside.  I have heard of people using resistors off the 12V power supply.  my question is, what resistors do you need, how many, does anyone have a picture, or does anyone have a picture of another place to solder the LED's to?
