Memory Upgrade concept
« on: April 10, 2008, 07:50:27 PM »
well this popped in my head and i am curious if is possible. now i remember reading something when 3.80 M33 came out saying that it unlocked it to now reconize more that the first 4 GB of partition of a memory stick. So here is my idea (i apologize if someone already thought of this) take a PSPs HDD memory pack

and pop it open and depending on what it using for data storage upgrade it. i have seen some post on some custom jobs that look REAL complex it would seem that my way is possible less complex and transferabe if you ever had to replace your PSP.

This is just a idea i am too poor and cheap for that matter to buy a PSP HDD and crack it open. just thought i share the idea

yeah same thing. i have seen it done with a Ipod and i have even seen it done with a 360 HDD. so assuming that the PSP HDD is a compact flash or similar it should be upgradable

it may work if you can find a storage divise compatable with the same type of data encryption and can be formated the same. Not sure wheater you could get more than 10 gigs tho

well i wont hold my breath on getting one at a decent price most people still asking at least $100 or more. wonder if they know you can pick up a actual 4gb memory card for less?

do u want one i will only charge wat i paid and shipping costs
and a 4gb cf is alot cheaper than a 4gb ms pro duo mat  :eyebrow:
look here
[urlhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=4gb+cf][/url]
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=4gb+ms+pro+duo+

so ya the cf is alot cheaper
i also want to know if the 4gb max capacity with the neo 2in1 is because of the psp or the adapter
and look at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=8gb+cf

Won't work..

The Datel board for the PSP can't recognize more then 4GB's.

And the newer Datel CF model only reads a MAXIMUM of 8GB's.

But the NeoFlash converters will,  if U modefy it. (Not sure if this is true, just read it somewhere.)

I don't have 1 and I'm not planing on getting 1, not at this time anyway.

I can help U out best that I can, with whatever questions U may have.

BTW did U know that the NEO converter/PAD support up to 32GB?

All U need to do is modify it, read how at NEOFLASH HERE:
http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/topic,4105.0.html

However Dr.neo said:

(And I quote)
the current PSP 3.0 BIOS just support up to 8GB, in fact PSP can support up to 32GB memory accessing, just SONY want to restrict it for the business operation.

So I don't know.. :dntknw:

Again it would be stinkin easy if someone here could rewrite the firmware on the psp to raise the restriction.
