ok so there is a hack that uses a nslu2 to run usb host on and access it in irshell with an alternative firmware flashed on it that is compatible to psp. and pvps mod that magicly access the hdd trough ir shell. well i have a usb ide adapter that has a pcb with ide port on it and if some how somone could write a firmware that could be flashed on this adapter with a pc that would run usb host to access the hdd conected to it this is all theory but i think it is totaly posible this pcp and a ipod hdd powered by psp would totaly fit in umd drive.

link to a similar device to mine and its cheap so if u know how to program stuff like that its worth picking up to see if its posible

ok pvp used the ir shell because that was the only way he could accsess the hdd, he pluged the hdd into the psp and went to ir shell and went to usb or w/e to get into it
i said before that i might be able to make a tut because i had a friend who supposibly did this mod, but no reply yet, he told me to use this drive though http://store.luluusa.com/08k9564.html
i dont think u could write a firmware for the thing unless you know good c or c++, or i suppose u could write a firmware on a pic micro and install it, but idk

ehm.. well like i said i lost contact with him >.> (he was a friend from a psp site, but just left) im trying to get in touch so i will tell you wen i get the info, but i said supposibly because he had a rap sheet of being a liar and saying that he gets a 1000 dolor allounce every month..(not saying he doenst but..) so idk, he had pics so its possible.

how about u get a harddrive the change the usb things so its output is a mini 2.0 usb host thingo majigo then get a program like ir shell to use it

i have that same usb adapter thingy. i use it for my external harddrive on my computer (the ide side). i got my hdd from an old laptop works like a charm =] keep all my psp games on there

you would think by now that some one who be giving out a tut on a hdd mod but once again everyone is stuck at the software. i wonder why?

I can't count how many ppl claim they have a hdd working with their PSP but yet they wont share any info or proof they just go poof.

op? you mean me? well im no programmer but this adapter has on board memory and you can update its firmware so if another firmware was writen to run usb host on the hdd and interface with psp then i guess it could work its all theory but like i said im no programer so idk how posible this is.

well i dont have a mini usb or anything to test this on my psp with but do you think you could?

also im trying to get some programers togeater to crack this i will help fund your efforts if i see proof of some kind of progress i mean for the past 6 months this mod has been sitting still

i would lke to see you get this going, btw if you still need that broken screen with connectors i may be able to sell it to you as i have 3 more psp's arriving soon 1 with broken screen.

Wait so.. what is this? I thought that the the psp and a hard drive werent compatible. I thought you need to use an intermediate pcb usb host controller to access it.
I was talking to the people at vinculum, and i should be able to get a running prototype, but i dont have enuf money. i need about 100-200 more dollars before i can.

idk if this is a host controler but i was just kinda seeing if someone could write a firmware for it just shareing theory. vinculum? give me a number or link if we can get a working chip ill buy it.
