solar usb charger
« on: May 03, 2008, 12:52:23 PM »
I tried making a solar usb charger. It puts out 4.85 volts in the sun but when I hook it up to a device (mp3 player) it turns it on but doesn't seem to charge. I wired them in series and paralell 4 panels from the solar garden lights I post it here because maybe some of you with the charge mod could use it if it worked properly. I could email my diagrams if you think you can help.

I thought of that so i used a 6ft cable but if you are on a plane or a bus or in a car you won't have to worry about adapters or having extra batteries. didn't know you could buy one and for that cheep. less than buying the stuff to make it.

but i no a bit when it comes to solar power, i have eperemented with charging psp by solar and the reason u arn't getting any charge is probably cas the solar panel u are using is a drip feeding charger. It does not produce enough current (mA) to run or charge a usb devise.
