10 Year class reunion....

Well a couple of days ago I received the invitation to my 10 year reunion, and I can't decide whether or not I should go.  High School doesn't even register as a blip on the radar of my life, and shortly after getting out into the real world I realized HS was just a flawed microcosm of society, and had very little to do with actual society.  While I have undoubtedly changed greatly in the past ten years (World travel, learning 5 languages, the Army...)  I know that most people that never Leave Monroe, Wisconsin, will not have changed much at all...  I guess my real bet is the fact that women mature and grow up mentally and emotionally faster than men do on average, and as such wouldn't be as prone to remain in their clicks from HS, er, at least that's what I'm betting...  What do you all think?

No, you can  get drunk with your friends, and start a fight if you like.

Because, you get the best of all your choices.. The reunion sounds like it will be really awkward or something, and I wouldn't go, but then again I'm not you. :]

look I would go. I mean how awesome is that. and if all don't go right well start a fire. but heh a fight nah man you wouldn't want people you knew 10years back say look we haven't  seen this guy in ten years and hes a drunk that likes to fight....If your like me you don't care what people think but still....... Thats kinda cool they only come around every  so often  enjoy them.

Ok, after getting out of the army, about 4 years ago, I met a woman that was from Monroe...  I thought hell it's been 6 years, people change right?  So I agreed to a date in Monroe, halfway through the night, she was approached by some friends of her brother's and they told her that I wasn't a "good" person for her to be around...  I looked around (I could litteraly feel the glares), and all the guys were cookie cutters of each other, wearing the same brand names, drinking the same beer, and talking all the same, now that wouldn't be weird in a small town in Wisconsin at all other than the fact that it was the exact same mannerisms as when I knew them in HS...  The only person from my class that even had approached me was a woman that in HS was from an entirely different click, and I could tell it was genuine, she actually apologized for the way I was being treated by the others.  If I did attend, I know I would at least have a clean slate with the women of my class, since, like I said earlier generally mature faster than men do.  I guess I don't know, there are pros and cons to both going and not....

Just got an email back from the reunion board, I had asked them if there had been change and growth because I didn't want to waist my time with immature idiots, and their reply was very good to hear...  Of course you will always have the idiots but for the most part the class has become different people...

Go there and be the mature person you are, and if the rest your old class mates are still the same as High School then tell them to GTFO! in calm manner. Finish up any unresolved issues you have with them and then leave.
