« on: May 22, 2008, 10:37:28 AM »
Hello, My son tried to replace the screen in his psp,Bot the screen on line, he could not get the backlight cable back into its slot, and eventually broke off the latch on the board for both the backlight cable and the screen cable that hold it into place. We are not sure what to do now. do we need to send it to a shop for another board.. are we hosed? PLEASE any ideas?

What a bone head! Please help.. I will be sending it somewhere in the net two days if i dont get any significant ideas.

TIA

don't do that just put a piece of electrical tape on top of the connectors when they r in so that they stay in and it should work fine

Insert some paper into the connector, then slide in the cable, this highers the pressure and the cable will have a good connection, when the screen seems to work fine, put tape over it so it stays in.

He can put some tape on the FPC and it's easier for inserting it.

it should be fine mate just slot the backlight in and it should stay in place by itself then put the screen connector in and press it in well then give it a good electrcial taping so it stays there and you are good to go, ps. i did this today morning

thanks to everyone that replied, I think I am screwed and have to send this thing in for a new mb AND screen... if you notice there is no where to slide in the back light cable, the whole piece broke off... and the connectors on the backlight are on the top of the cable, so it needto to either twist and be taped down... just too much work.. I tried to turn it on to see if I would get anything on the screen.. I got NOTHING.. no backlight.. nothing.. this sux... this will prob cost me around $200 to fix... AAARGH!

thanks for all that responded

Please let me know if you know of any reputable places in the US I can send this thing and get it fixed... of course other than sony.

Thanks again. :sadno:

Don't spend $200, you can buy a new motherboard here for around $45 or $50

why ask for advise if your not going to do anything with it.

al you done was broke the clip that puts a bit a presher on it to keep it in just put the cable in as far as it can go and put about 3mm of tape on it and carefully put the screen back in the presher with the screen will keep the cable in anyway.
come to the rite place if you kiss admins as they promote you to admin.

I tried the taping suggestion, but if you look closely, the backlight cable housing does not have the piece on it where you can just slide the cable in, and the connectors on the cable are on top so I would have to twist the cable and that wont allow it to close. I do need a new mb, I will have to research which type I have and where to get one.. On this site?   yes saw i can get a new one for $99 on ebay !!  I will look into that also.. Thanks
