LED sequence help

i want to hook up a sequence of leds around some of my speakers and I want around 12 in a circle, The first one flashes, turns off then the second one go's, turns off, then the third etc... Does anyone know how this can be done, and Im not good at reading schematics

i think you need a realy or somin like that im not sure.

can be done quite easily with a Picaxe micro controller.
