5 AAA batterys = 4 AA batterys?
« on: June 08, 2008, 09:13:08 PM »
I took apart my cell boost psp battery charger and found 5 dead AAA batterys and I'm wondering if I put just 4 AA batterys will it still work? And if I put just two?

Nope you would have less voltage.

You have to install 5

You will see they are strung back to front.

That is series.

first battery is from ground to + that is 1.5 volts
the next battery ground is hooked to the + of the first that makes from ground of the first to + of the second 3 volts
the third ground hooked to the + of the second make from ground of 1 to the + of three - 4.5 volts
the fourth ground hooked to the + of the third make from ground of the 1 to the + of 4 - 6 volts

If you stop there it will = 6 volts but if you add one more then you will have 7.5 volts

less voltage won't work.

so you need 5 batteries to get 7.5 volts

you will need the same amount as they are the same voltage if you add 5 AA you will get more charge time out of it.

look on the battery itself. It tells you how many volts it is...they are both 1.5v because they are MADE that way...

If U use accus U need 4 pcs 1accu=1.2V*5=5V and thats enough

its because the generaly AA has more milliamp hours so it can sustain that 1.5v for longer than a AAA batt

they have different sizes for different amperages and sized devices

AA's have higher amperage, not a lot more, but they have more....

but that doesn't change that they have the same voltage ;)

i mean they have 12v batteries smaller then a babies little finger but they also use 12v batteries in some cars lol
