This guy painted his trim with tamiya and it looks pretty good.
i painted my trim with a nicer black than that picture. that picture looks like a matte black maybe enamel. if you simply want it like that then just get spray paint from orchard supply or something. as for mines i used Tamiya modeling paint (metallic black). it turned out like this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Tamiya-TS-40-Metallic-Black-100ml-Spray-Can_W0QQitemZ150173829953QQihZ005QQcategoryZ2594QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m118
first of all you're not going to want to paint your trim while leaving it on the faceplate. you're going to want to open up your psp till the face plate is off and simply slide the trim off the back plate. then just follow through with how they say to spray paint here and it will turn out cleann.. if you mess up just sand it off and start over. i would recommend primary paint before you paint with the tamiya. then a clear coat.

It would be nice if someone like coolmods would sell coloured trims rather than having to do it yourself. i reckon they would sell quite a lot.

im not too sure about that. it looks nice but i cant really see it. and krylon fusion is made for plastics so yea. idk

I have used that Krylon Fusion after I lightly hand sanded each piece by hand, then primed all pieces, then lightly sanded again and then applied the fusion paint. It looked great for about a week now it looks like crap. Here I'll post a picture of it like 2 days after I painted it.

In the end I would not recommend Krylon Fusion

Nah to lazy for that I guess, but it would have lasted longer. I don't know how much longer, but hey would have been better I bet. I don't use that slim very much any more but for the longest time it was my wip. Now I'm using a slim with a Clear Case from Coolmods, and I have to say I love that case!!!! Wait till you guys see what I'm doing to it. Ok sorry for the plug, I get excited.... Anyway I think Black trim would look nice on the Clear Case what do you guys think?

tamiya paints are specifically made for plastics too.. no other reason why they call it modeling paint. after that all you need is clear gloss and you're set. why you have to make things so complicating =]

i paint a lot and in my opinion if your not mixing your paint like automotive paint your going to get he same results with the can it doesnt harden very well and between the two choices presented here i would say krylon fusion as it would be made for a more durable finish but just enough to get the desired color then sand then clear it now i would use as much clear as possible without messing up the edges as the surface tension of paint thins on the edges as it dries sometimes leaving it almost not painted looking and you need to let each coat of paint dry thoroughly for the best, longest lasting finish .....thoroughly....thats a big part inpatient people dont do and it looks like crap

tamiya paints work with any other kinds of paint. says on the can and i havn't had any trouble with it. no lumps, nice and smooth. not only that you dont even have to sand dude. i go straight to primer and have never had a problem. i even tried scratching it super hard with my finger nail. didn't leave a mark =] well i gues it might be my glassy gloss

Black trim on the clear case looks great. I painted mine with automotive paint using an airbrush and it came out really well. I also used a plastic adhesion promoter first and a special solvent to clean it.

If it been raining I'd wait a day or two, the cold weather can last for a while and effect your paint

Did you sand it before painting and did you use primer?

yea.. you're not going to need to sand. with krylon fusion you dont need to prime either. and.. the reason why it scratches easy is because its not completely dry, or you've put way to many layers. and i can see its a little bumpy you might wanna try spraying a little farther back with some smooth even like strokes. and completely pass the object you're painting. its also better you do it indoors. good luck!

you can do 3 coats i actually do 4. just give it more time to dry. thats why i think using a matte black then clear gloss is better than krylon fusion. its much smoother from the start.
