IDE? Plug the power cable into the IDE HD power cable from your PSU. Then plug the IDE cable into the IDE socket on your motherboard.

It's so easy...You plug something in...

From what I know, there's 3 sets of 2 pins on the back where the connectors are.And there's a little bridge that goes over them. Put it over the set that says "slave" or "s" or whatever.

your also going to need to set up witch HDD is the master and the slave in your bios.

OR, you could just do it with WHERE you plug your HDD into the IDE chain. Your IDE cable has 3 connectors. One for the Moboard, and 2 for the HDD's or CD/ROM...etc etc...The furthest one away is master (I believe...it HAS been a while) and the closer one to the mobard is slave. YOU may need to put your HDD to CS (Cable Select) to have this method work, but if your missing the jumpers, chances are, its hardmoded into the HDD. Good luck with that, also, chances are, itll automatically be made a slave. Just plug it in and see if windows boots, if not, swap some cables. Trial and error.

just clean up your drive, or get an external and put media files on that

hard drives are not plug and play unless they have been formated for it. and for a disk clean up / defrag you need at least 13% free.

disk cleanup i meant manually, then when enough space is acquired do it automatically, if you feel like it

thats how i do it and less than half my drive is full, always has been

Clean the computer by deleting unneeded files. Also download CCleaner to clean the hard drive.

1. Clean install of Xp
2. Learn how to keep your Hdd clean, and arranged
3. You will find you have lost about 15Gb In Files

then just do a thurough cleanup

delete unused programs, unused files, etc.
defrag (like tec said, it works wonders)
built in disk clanup utility...

installing a new harddrive would be much worse, for one, you dont have a cd

you'd have to reformat it, get all your old data, etc. (not plug n' play like tec said)

it honestly dosnt take too long to manually clean up and do an automatic disk cleanup

defrag can take awhile, but you just let it sit
