Modding the psp's built in keyboard/keypad
« on: June 28, 2008, 07:39:51 PM »
Is there a way to make it look like a standard keyboard or something along the lines of that? The phone keypad type set up can get pretty tedious and annoying when typing long messages or text. A wii type set up for the built in keyboard would be pretty cool.

The standard text input that the PSP uses can be replaced with different software.

Since the PSP does not have touchscreen or other simple ways to input text there is no reason to change it.

If we do touch screen, then one of the first uses would be an on screen touch keypad.

I think somewhere someone already did a replacement using an ird keyboard meant for a PDA

He didn't ask about an actual keyboard. Read first guys.As for your question, you might be able to manually replace some flash0 files if it's not already in the firmware. I've been out of the Scene for a while so I'm not sure. Anything's possible though :D

That's not what I mean though. Pressing x so many times just to get a single letter then going all the way to another number is time consuming. Same with pressing r after each letter. If it was a qwerty keyboard, you can just go directly to a letter or number a lot faster.

There is software that will drive just about any IR keyboard but that only works for the PHAT.

We are working on a keyboard that will plug into the headphone jack on both the Phat and Slim
