I am currently trying to disassemble my slim PSP (model PSP-2001 (Starwars)). It has a broken screen, and Sony customer service is evil, so i wanted to do a damage assessment type thingy.

The problem?
The one screw on the bottom of the PSP is stuck.
And I think I've stripped it.

My #0 Philip's screwdriver isn't working, and so ask for your help.

yea i almost stripped mine too i got the same psp tht screw is the hardest for no reasong but yea soo.......is it sticking out a lil bit or in all the way ? if it is stisking out a lil bit you can just gently grabit with a pair of pliers and take a min to loosen it....if it is all the way in there lol you kinda screwed you would need to get a scre extraction kit and tht will be hard for tht size screw i wouldnt be surprised if you will need to drill the whole screw out and lol tht aint gonna be fun...but good luck...

put glue on the screw and stick your screwdrive on the screw immediatly and let it dry and when its dry just turn and alla cazam its out lol

i tried that already with crazy glue, it doesn't work with that...

What type should i use?

@everyone else: I think the matter's cleared up now. I didn't realize i could ask for a name change. (funny though, I used to run an SMF, and i never realized they had a name change feature.)

EDIT: I have now tried oiling the screw (with oil, not liquid wrench), turning it with hot glue, heating it to 900 degrees Fahrenheit and prying it out with a flathead, all to no avail. Please help!
PS: tmand, do you mean liquid nails or what?

You could always cut the trim as it is seperate from the case assembly... I've not personally tried it...

You'll have to replace the trim and faceplate but you'll get the screw out without damaging the internals...

I've decided to try nail glue (as soon as i can get to the hardware store), and if that fails, yng's idea (with what would you cut the trim?).
Is is possible to just snap off the tab in the faceplate the screw's connected to? if so, how?
If you have other suggestions, please post them!

pliers? the smallest i have is a needle-nose, and its tip is bigger than the screw itself!

Yes it should, if not just snap it off like it was said before, and next time use a Phillips #000 as they are the perfect fit, i bought a set of torqx, phillips, and slotted(20 screwdrivers) for 17.99 and they work flawlessly,

I have tried Phillips #0 & #00 and i don't even know why some people here recommend it, as i have found out that the screwdriver #00 is just too big for the screw, and you might strip another screw when disassembling the rest of the PSP as the screws are pretty tight when never opened, even with my #000 phillips i managed to strip the *LAST* damn screw from the UMD laser/reader my first time i disassembled it. I used another phillips #000, it was way more of a fined tip than the other screwdriver, and i pushed it out with a small pin while using the screwdriver to drive it out as well and it worked.

TIP: here is a tip, when you put your PSP all back together don't fasten all the screws to the point it's stiff, just screw in enough for it to hold well and be able to take them out with some ease again.

I've had alot of stripped screws (2) because of DealExtreme cases, You will end up having to snap it off, I then melted the plasitc around the screw with my soldering iron. It worked like a charm but now my Faceplate is wreaked.
