backlit key/button mod?

Anyone ever do a backlit key/button mod? 
sort of like this

I want to do this not just use clear buttons ... if possible.

Just need advice as to how to do it.  if for example using all black buttons or all chrome buttons.

It's been done...just drill a hole in the buttons and put an led in them.

No I think what he means is different. Its more like having it clear where the symbol is and the other part a normal color like white or black(like in the picture just psp style). and then put a led in it and the symbol will light up. I don't think its been done like that before. If it has a want to know how

If you look at the picture of the macbookpro keyboard, you see that , thats not what Im trying to do.

Im looking to make the symbol clear with the rest surround it dark or not clear so that when light is put through it u only see the symbol in light not surrounded by light. 

Im gonna try it out maybe cuz out the symbol with a scalpel or something

Are the buttons painted underneath? If they are, couldn't you just scratch away the paint?

i tried it but didnt work out as i thought but it is possible.  my problem was the silicon rubber thing.... it just required to trimmed a bit. but i hope it works out fine good luck

I found it extremely hard to do what you plan to do, I'd try to get some clear ones and paint the rest black, Which is even extremly harder, but you can compremise

i was thinking maybe taking any color ones and using an exacto knife or a pin or something small to cut/trace the symbol  then put some sort of clear paint over the entire thing or glaze or something so that the holes get filled up but remain clear.    It is  a work in progress.. still trying to find psp slim buttons like chrome ones or gold chrome ones, cant find them.
