NAPA. Was $10 but comes in a set of about 50 bits with all kinds of different security bits. Very good price from what I've seen elsewhere.

I also got a cheap one from ACE hardware,
but it's diameter is too big to fit into the 2 bottom holes,
so you will have to drill the holes bigger.

Why would you drill the holes bigger on your xbox controller?
I bought the bit from Menards for 2.99, then used a bench grinder to make part of the bit skinner so it would fit in the holes.

So are the controllers a torx t8 or torx t9?  King Mike's online shop lists it as a t9!

Oh, see I have a t8 security bit but it doesn't fit in the bottom parts.

a great alternative is a size 1.5 slotted jam it to one of the sides of the security T8 and it should work. that how i opened my 360 controller be cause the TX8 security bit was hard to find. also if your lucky the pins will come out and you can use a regular t8.

The first controller I opened, I took a large precision flat head and cut a slot with my Dremel. It works fine as long as you don't plan on opening a lot of controllers.

I got mine off of ebay and I've never had a problem. It was a small kit with a triwing bit and about 5 sized Torx security bits. And about 15 other bits. All for ~$2.

i bought a t8 at home depot for about $10 about 2 years ago. the set came with like 6 heads t8 was one of them the one this is the one i got does not have a numb on the top so you have to break the pin in the middle of the screw before you can unscrew but that's not a big deal now is it

How do you break the pin? That's an awful tight spot to get to.

If your looking to open up you xbox360 controller for modding I go a great Torx Key Set from my nearby AutoZone I know it may not seem to be the place that you would find them but for the information people actually happen to use these alot on cars so if thats what your looking at try that.

Where ever you get them, just remember that they will need a long enough shank to reach down in to the controller hole. A lot of the bits are just an inch long, and that won't work.

I ended up using a 2.0 mm flat head screw driver. I just put it in between the dot in the center and the walls.
