Loose hinge?
« on: August 06, 2008, 08:39:37 AM »
My DS Lite hinge is messed up. It's unmodded, never opened it. The problem I have is that it seems to wobble in the open angle too much. Is that a normal occurance? It's only a millimeter or so, but it feels like the space for the pre-defined open spot (you know, where it clicks into) is too big, and the top just floats in it. It may not sound like much, but for someone with OCD, its a headache.

Also, on the right side, at the space where the hinge meets the LED's, I can pull it down and push it up about a millimeter, and it clicks a little bit. I can pull it back down for another little clack. Again, annoying. Is it just something they all have, like a manufacturing defect? It's not a huge deal, and it will not get me a return easily, but if theres a way I can fix it without opening it, I'll do it.

Your plastic where the hinge goes in might be stripped out and you need a new piece.   Or maybe you have a crack on your hinge.  Do you see any cracks on that side?

Yeah, no tri-wing screw driver, so I guess I'll just live with it. >.>
No cracks either, its only 3 weeks old.
Anyway, thanks.

Oh, I would, but I can't drive yet, and this would be the second return...and with my luck, I'd get a dead pixel, or the high-pitched whine again...

Guess that's what I'll do, I noticed cracks, similar to the launch batch that always broke. And it has gotten worse.
