push sensitive buttons

k so I want to make my psp have the following things:

•Green direct-connected sound reactive LEDs in the triggers.
•White push sensitive lights in the triggers(when I push the right trigger it will light up white & the     same with the left)

I'm good on the sound reactive green ones, but I need help for the white push sensitive ones. I needto know where to hook them up to to make them come on when I push. Thanks

know it can be done because I saw a video on youtube of a guy that did it. I just need to know how.

Cut the wire into 2, then when presure apllys to the two wires the copper touchs eachother so the led lights up

There used to be a tut showing you how to make a button active trigger mod which used to the swich out of a cd-rom to turn on when you pressed the button. you could use that method to make you mod you want, now if i can only find that web site.........

the website that you gave me dosent say anything about the pressure sensitive lights. It just shows how to put in lights that come on when the psp does.

but i think it would actually be neater in the long run, and it would be more stable, as well as more effective

It woulndt be more effetive, I would be the same, plus my way is easy cheaper and if done the right way It would work perfectly everytime forever

Besides, the led Would still be on, just dimmer...XD mine would be off led, then push and ON led! lol

Thanks for the schematic. It helps alot. I thought you could just hook up a led to the l and r button leads and a ground. I'm glad I asked though.

Yea, um its not...that great (personally) cuz u push it and it turns on for like less than a second...
i would make it so that when u push it, it turns on then fades off...now that would be kewlz

wouldent it do that if you added a capacitor across the - and + of the led? Fade off I mean? I think that would be sick. I think it would be worth a try. I'll try it tonight outside of my psp first.

I made the original push-to-light face buttons quite a while ago...

I'm willing to help anyone who wants to do it...

that looks like a pretty accurate pic... the only thing I did different was solder everything onto the under side of the powerboard... otherwise you'll have difficulty closing the case and the buttons will be harder to press... now, putting the LEDs in the buttons like I did presents other problems... I recommend trying to drill into the side of the button instead of the bottom, or use those hollow clear buttons... Oh and using different colored lights presents a voltage and resistance nightmare...

now the triggers come from different points, but they're much smaller solder points on the backsides of connectors...

Everrets mod was a simple switch placed under the trigger, so when pressed, the switch would let the yada yada yada. Catching on?

Yes, different coloured leds would require a different value resistor on the colour's respective branch, but the exact resistances shouldn't be too hard to work out..

Did you solder on these points?



If so, good idea, I always solder on there no matter what, I can always get a good strong joint by soldering the vias.

yes those are the points I used...

Yes, different colored LEDs require different value resistors, and the values aren't hard to figure out, but theory and practical application do not always provide the same results... I used the proper value resistors for each color (based on the calculations) and still had issues with the lighting, as you can see in the video, I did not take it any farther (different color LEDs) than what is seen in the video (I later made another proto with single color LEDs that worked the way it was conceptualized...
