2 LM386 or 1
« on: August 17, 2008, 09:57:00 AM »
Hey guys i have just been trying to get to the bottom of my not so blinking sound reactive mod. I used two LM386 chips and i now wonder if that is draining to much power and causing the LED's to not blink as much as they could.

So my question is (to who has ever done the sound reactive mod) do you use 2 audio chips or 1

Lol, you only use one. You only use 2 if you're doing it seperate for the left and right speakers.

People that take it to the next level do two, one powering one led, and put the left speaker led in the left trigger, right in the rgith, it gives a much better effect, and is alot more interestesting to watch.

take it to what next level???? if you read the whole thread you can read that duke did use 2 ic's and not 1

To all of you crying about lag and kicks, remember… when Jesus died, took him 3 days to respawn. Now THAT is lag.

It's not taking anything to the next level Alien, it's just a different way of doing it. And yeah, read the topic before replying, thanks.
sorry it was in reference to pspkicks' post
Everything you say seems to be towards/against me, doesn't it? Most people I've ever seen do the sound reactive trigger mod have used one chip because it's easier and gives the same effect. Then there's some people who decide to use 2 because they want stereo. I'm not wrong.

Well i think that just one would work better because it uses less power, which produces a better and more defined blink so psp kicks was right.

So when i did use 2 i may have been doing something wrong (which i doubt because i hooked up and double checked everything) or it was just a power issue.

Its either use one or go to the direct connect, i really don't want to go to direct connect because that's the first mod i did and i wanted a brighter glow and that's why i went to the LM386's

yeah i will throw a video up, this is going to be my final mod to this psp, i still need a razor board but don't want to speed the 30 dollars to get one.

I took my psp apart and i am rebuilding it from bottom to top, making everything neat so i don't have to open it again.

could you use a single stereo amp instead of two mono LM386's? seems to me that that would be easier than using two mono ones. it would require less wiring if it is possible.
