starting of a major set of PSP mods (need everyone's help)
« on: August 29, 2008, 01:15:37 PM »
Hey Everyone :woot:
Getting ready to start on a whole :censored: load of mods I'm doing to my psp.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome but if you could post some links to useful tutorials or previous threads of interest, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here it goes

-LEDs in L&R bumpers
-Sound Reactive IC for LEDs (bumpers and ROL)
-Orange LED power indicator swap
-Custom UMD Door with window and LED ROL
-Translucent Black/Smoke shell
-Clear D-pad with orange 0603 SMDs
-Square, Triangle, X, Circle wired to light up like 360 controller  :eyebrow:

*I also need some help regarding the LEDs in the buttons. Does anybody know how to make the LEDs so they aren't so dang bright?

Again, any help/feedback both positive and negative is always welcome

that should get you almost all your tuts, and to dim the leds just give them less power or a bigger resistor.

and use the search function it is helpful way to find stuff here

yeah use a more powerful resistor, if you're using any colour other than blue, use a 20 Ohm, if you're using a blue, use a 10 Ohm, as Blue LEDs dont normally need a resistor at all.

what does the ROL mean? Anyway it sounds like it will be awsome. Post pictures. And whenyou say you want the buttons to light up like the 360, what do you mean? I haven't used a 360 so I have no idea. Do the 360s buttons light up? Or do you just mean the LEDs that are the same color as the 360s button? (red, green, orange and blue)

just the colors would be the same. since i'm more of a 360 fan rather than ps3 fan just for modding purposes.

also, when you mean more powerful resistor do you mean higher ohm rating or higher wattage (right now i have a 1/2w 190k)?

well if you havent stripped them completly, you can try yo put your psp on a pillow and push hard on the screw driver you might be able to get them out,if they are to far gone for that to work you might be able to get a screw out bit from a hardware store but i dont know if they make them that small,or you can use a drill to drill off the top of the head but be careful not to go to far or you could drill out the plastic that keeps the screwhead from going through the case and holds it together.i have only ever had to use the pillow trick so i am not sure how hard it is to use the other methods,or how well they work
