JUST the HDD? Or the whole thing?
If it's the whole thing just plug it in lol
If it's jsut the HDD, get a converter thingy lol and plug it into your usb port or sata port whatever converter you buy.

...if they make them. Lol

Harddrive enclosure. iPods use 1.8" drives I'm pretty sure.

ipods use a 1.8 hard drives with zif connectors.

what do you want to do with it? run an os on it? or just have an external hard drive for files?

running an os.
you can take two approaches
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10885
this converts you ipod hdd to a ide (you could just use this adaptor if your laptop takes ide instead of sata)
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.728
and this converts the ide to sata. and then you can somehow fit it all in the laptop

or if you don't want to take the laptop apart you can get something like this and boot from an external drive.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ZIF-1-8-external-enclosure-case-for-ZIF-HDD-toshiba-etc_W0QQitemZ110287183218QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110287183218&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A1%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

if you just want to use it for storage just get the enclosure and put the hdd in it and your set.

or you know... just put the usb cord into the ipod, and cut the cord. then take the wires inside the usb and solder them to the nearest port inside the case.

once it's inside and soldered in, you pretty much have an internal harddrive. it just happens to look like a ipod.

make sure to format it first, that should solve most problems.

No. That's if you have the whole iPod, not just the harddrive. And that's assuming the iPod works.

true....

i just ordered this one http://cgi.ebay.ca/1-8-ZIF-LIF-CASE-Enclosure-For-Toshiba-Hard-Disk-Drive_W0QQitemZ140266450090QQihZ004QQcategoryZ74949QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

so that makes it to $20 for 80gb usb drive - considering that a fool sells u the ipod for $5

thanks chase for this sig =)
