rapid fire question
« on: September 16, 2008, 08:28:42 AM »
New to the site, just getting started. I have found a lot of useful info here, but it tends to get a little confusing, with all the ppl going back and forth about what works and what don’t. For the record, I did the no chip (old board) and Silly nuts 555 chip (new board) as a sleeper and added push button all create the rapid fire effect. (Once the switching NPN Tran is added to the 555 sleeper (thanks king mike and silly)). However I have found that both of these are inconsistent. The no chip ONLY works after depleting one bar of battery power. The 555 works but some times you get rapid and sometimes it stutters to get started, then rapid fires. I have yet to buy mike's chip, but this is my next step. I like to build things for my self, which is why I started with the no chip and the 555 chip.

Basically, I was looking to see if anyone has had the same inconsistencies, and if this is corrected using mikes chip.

well, after playing with a project board for awhile, I have modified the setup slightly and now have a much more consistant mod. using the low power chip, and a second capacitor. will put up specs after I put it all back together and fully abuse the chip
