Help me i got a virus

i got a google redirecting virus i think

its killing my computer i can reinstall windows but i need a few files first but it wont let me copy them to a flash drive so please help

im running on ubuntu right from a cd and it wont let me acces my hard drive

ok well first of all before you try this idea I would check google out for some otehr ides, but I do know you can pay circuitcity/bestbuy/other electronics stores might do it, but anyways it costs about 50$ and you bring em your computer and they will get you whatever files from it you need or all of em if you want. There may be a better less expensive way to do this but i haven't really checked and I know that circuitcity and best buy for sure do this

Use the force mount command to mount your harddrive then copy everything off. Or, if you're like me, you should have an 8gb flash drive that just happens to have tons of portable programs including 6 portable antivirus/trojans removers/anti spyware/ etc/etc.

well it screwed my computer over i cant start it up without it freeze in about 2mins after

i was able to backup my important files so i could care less what happens the rest so im just going to reinstall windows.

Here's the best idea I'll ever have for you, granted you haven't formatted/reinstalled yet.

Interwebs, search them.
Make a USB bootable version of windows(on another computer...). Preferably XP. Then, boot into that, and using another flash drive, have portable virus scanners and trojan removers, etc. I have a few.Use those to scan your windows partition, and it will remove the problem.

Problem solved. You've got another computer (obviously) you have access to, so use that one to find/make a usb bootable winxp drive.

well technicaly just because he can post on the forum doesnt mean he could do what you said with the computer because he could be at work or school or a library even using the forums. Now if he can do what he wants with this computer he is no accesing then yea do what he said. Or you can just get oen of your friends t oelt em use there computer to do it if you cant use that one.

Run the file, and it'll be all good...

no im was just saying because if he was at school or something it wouldnt even let him download the software he needs, my school computers wouldnt even let us use usb flash drives.

yes that is what i used to do if i needed anything at school id put them up on my old website and download it. If the school ever found out and blocked that site i could just switch the host and domain name
