« on: November 30, 2008, 06:10:15 PM »
Hey doods, i got  a trojan lurking somewhere on my hard drive. idk how i got it, but occasionally a popup comes up telling me theres a spyware program that like a virus(?). What program do you guys recomend thats free to remove crsp liek viruses, etc. I already have PC Tools Spyware doctor. . I dont mind reinstalling Vista, and i have all files backed up ona another HDD partition, but i want reinstallation to be a last option.

Go get Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. And find yourself some keys while you're at it.
Best AV/IS there is.

dont use AVG. my mom had it on her laptop and a trojan still got through with no trouble

if you have comcast, you should get the mcafee security center that is free with it

kaspersky is good also and so is norton

Kaspersky > McAfee > Norton
Nah, McAfee is one of the best one's out there, it's mandatory for us to have it on out computers here in college because we get so many hacker attempts (our mega internet makes us easier targets).

Exactly! Same with me. Got kaspersky, and haven't had a problem yet. And I'm also realizing all of the problems I used to have with mcafee.

Repair CD won't do anything. It's not some magical virus remover, it's what it's called. A REPAIR CD. As in, repairing an install.
