Anyone know about softmodding?

I got the homebrew channel installed but is that all I have to do to play a backup or do I have to install dvdx and stuff like that

To play back ups, you need a modchip installed. I dont know how to instal though since I havent bought one (yet).

you do not need a modchip but you will need FW version 3.3 or lower. And a WAD installer. google wii backup channel. you should find your answers...

hey does anyone know which firmware is best for softmodding as i got 3.1e do i need to upgrade to 3.3 or 3.2.

also how do you update your wii without using the update feature as from what i understand 3.4 is out now and isnt compatible with homebrew channel.
anyone know which games have the 3.2e or 3.3e firmware whichever is best or am i best sticking with 3.1e

I don't even bother updating, I just leave it at the current firmware I have (3.3 united states) and it works just fine for me.  I wouldn't go near the wii update with a 10foot pole.  I'm waiting for wii custom firmware to come out first before messing with updates.

I'm on 3.3u with the homebrew channel and now the backup loader channel I'll be burning my backup of 007 nightfire later and testing that softmodded backup loader tut now that everything's installed.

Good thing I backed that up a while ago, I lost my disk :'(

I just upgraded when it was the latest update.  I have just stayed on it since then.  I don't know any game disks that do updates besides Super smash bros brawl

I think you can now do it with 3.4 and lower.

the best firmware to be on is 3.2 because it has a lot of system file hacks including special IOS's.... and theres starfall for 3.2 which is the BEST thing for a modded Wii (besides case mods and a modchip  )

You need version 3.3 or lower install Cios installer and then wad manager and then get the wad, backup launcher, latest is v.03(beta). You need sd card for this, there vidoe guides if you need help, happy modding
