If I am using one white LED for each button would a 22ohm Resistor do the job connected in parallel on the + leg? and where do I connect to the controller board?

Need more information on you parts.

LED specs

what effect are you going for.......on all the time?

What controller are you using wired/wireless and Matrix/CG?

Its a CG wireless controller and I have none of the parts yet. I have the Tut from Llamma and they say what parts but they never really tell you where to get power from.

Ok, the power is easy, just click on any of our rapidfire tutorials with CG in the name and use the one we show there with the red wire.

The LEDs can be difficult espeacially white. There are so many different ways to make white light using an LED that you have to be carefull of which one you buy. Make sure that you arent buying high brightness LEDs as they will draw a pile of power. Buy LEDs that spec 20-30mA for the continuous operating current.

Another thing to look at is The LED forward voltage, the cg controller has 3V available from the power point we use in rapid fire. That being the case it is best to get an LED with Less then 3V forward voltage. If you cant get less then 3V get the lowest you can find and they may still work.

Once you have your specs of your LEDs you should look up a LED resistor calculator on google in order to size a limiting resistor. (may not be nessecary being that the controller is run off AA batteries, but is good practice all around to limit ur LED current)

I use 2 in each Button .. no resister needed .. if you want dose led i have them instock

These are what I'm thinking about. The tut on this site says they used a 22ohm resistor. Will that work?

dude it all matters on the forward voltage on the led your using. and keep in mind the controller runs off of 3 volts so if you get an led below 3 volts then figure out what resistor you will need.

I have ordered the white 3.3v 20mA leds for lighting the ABXY buttons where do I tap into the board on a CG wireless controller and what V will it be? Will I need the resistor and where do I get the power on a CG controller?

Since u have an led that requires 3.3 volts theres no need for resistors since the controller runs off of 3 volts, as for the points on where to solder ill try get u a pic soon

no u you would need no resistors since your not exceeding the max voltage but if you want to be careful just add a low resistor, but in my opinion there is no need as long as you dont go over the voltage the led requires, if you do go over then thats when you will need resistors.

The green looks a bit white in the pic, is it that way to the eye? I think Llamma's version used appropriately coloured LEDs, but this doesn't look too bad at all and it saves on messing around.

Okay. I don't think you understand the concept of a resistor. A resistor is to limit voltage/current, whatever going to your led. So if only 3v is coming out of your controller, but your led's forward voltage is 3.3v, you do not need a resistor. Why? Because less than your forward voltage is coming off the controller. You only need a resistor if the voltage from your controller is MORE than your forward voltage. Think of it this way. If your car is going at 150km/h (the car's speed being the voltage coming from the controller) but you are limited to 100km/h by the speed limit (the forward voltage limit on the led), then you would need to use brakes to reduce speed. (resistor to reduce current/voltage). Bad analogy, but I think it fits its purpose.

I did a test tonight with those LEDS and the power source barley lights it. I might have to get some other kind of LED
