TRIGGER MOD OFF & ON QUESTION
« on: March 14, 2007, 07:14:53 PM »
Hi i have seen some posts on trigger LEDs that you can turn off and on by clicking and some you can turn off and on by a installed button but i was wondering if there was a way to reroute it so you can turn it off an on by like pressing the music button or screen brightness button or like turning the hold switch on if there is a way or you might know one please post because i really would like to know because that would be very cool and because sometimes the LEDs get annoying thanks in advance. :victory:

I believe you can wire it to the wifi switch, ask Foo or Tr4g- for more info as they are damn good with this stuff.

The only option for switching the lights without installing another switch is to disconnect the hold switch from its control and use that. You will lose the ability to put the PSP on hold, however. Look at the switch on the back of the power board--it has four connections; two for power and two for hold. The switched hold pin will be pulled low when you turn on hold. Cut the trace from the pin to disconnect the switch, and use the pin as your control point. You will need to use a PNP transistor as a switch to do it this way.

Thanks.

Just one more question.
When adding LED's to my PSP, where would I solder the wires (+ and -) on the board?
If it's not too much trouble, if someone knows how to do this, could you please circle the places to solder each wire (+ and -) on the picture below.

Thanks again, everyone here is so helpful.

read how to factor resistance here:  http://www.doctronics.co.uk/resistor.htm

if you need further help, lemme know all the stats on the LEDs you got and when i get a few min ill help.

resistors stack, so if you needed 30,100OHMS you could use it like this:

--------[30K]-----------[100]---------       inline = 30,100 OHMS but to make it easier they have ALL KINDS of different resistors on the market.

**yeah yeah double post... i re-read the topig to see there are 2 people refering to my posts and i think there is confusion**

the picture with the thumbtacks is where you get your power from.... not where the hold switch would give you power.

im not sure if you would need a PNP transistor or not, you would have to ask someone who has completed the mod. i am just prepairing my PSP for modding and decided to help out people who just need that little extra bit of help to get their projects done.

the switch is grounded, and it would be the negative that would be switched if using it the way i was showing.

im glad that i somewhat helped, i hope to see pics of your mod soon. my led's are in transit still (i guess...)

i ordered like 20 different things this last week so iono whats gunna come and/or when... i think i ordered a GPS thingy too... im not sure as i was super tired, i do have a few random $50~ transactions on my paypal though....

anyhow make sure that your setup is good as you do have positive power running on those wires whenever the psp is on... i personally wouldnt do it exactly like this, i just got some NPN transistors in the mail (i ordered PNP though)... ill see what i can do with these when i get some free time. will be busy this week.

wanted 2 red leds in where the speakers are but when i try and add the red leds and power up i get 1 red on and both blue leds off  :boxed:, ive not added both red leds yet and was just testing with 1 red so total leds running off the 1 resistor is 3 at the moment but i want 4 in total in the end. anyone have any ideas ? maybe i need to add a 2nd resistor for the red leds ? any helpful input is much appreciated

Question:

I'm very interested in doing the Hold-switch-mod to turn on the trigger LEDs.

I was planning to go by the diagram showing the scratch and the wires added on in paint. (This one: http://www.btinternet.com/~deflection/scratched2bk2.jpg )

When the hold switch is turned on I want it to ONLY power the LEDs and not disable my other functions.

In other words....will scratching the surface like that prevent the hold function from working? (good thing in my case) I know it can be done but I'm just making sure.

I want to see if i understand this right.  The positive wire is soldered to the same place as in the normal mod.  The negative wire is attached to the hold switch instead of the place on the top of the power board.  Also that area is scraped off.  Is this correct?
