is the need of the resistor depends on led colors??
« on: January 24, 2009, 02:34:47 AM »
i'd like to know if the use of capacitor is depending on the

color of the leds...some says if i use blue leds need of capacitor

is not necessary..what about other led colors??and lastly how

many leds i can use before i have to use  capacitor...

thanks guys.. :tup:

Umm, What?

I think you mean resistor?

Im thinking you mean resistor

Well the average is

Red = 2v = 150ohm
Green = 3v 100ohm
Blue = 3v 100ohm

(For the 5v point)

Also only run them at their normal voltage, not their max, as they overheat and lose life very quickly

For example, a blue led at 3v wouldnt get that warm, and would be very bright, and last 10,000 hours or more

the same led at 3.6v would get very hot (Mine gets hot enough to desolder itself), would be a tiny bit brighter and only last about 100 hours or slightly more

Hoi! Pinoy ako!

It all depends on the particular leds you are using, if posible check the datasheet it will tell you all needed info to caculate your resistor size for the psp.

well i'm using 0603 leds...

can you provide me the right resisitor for every led colors?

i'm planning to use blue, red, yellow and green..

thanks..

Well when you buy leds it should say there forward voltage in a data sheet. Than use www.ledcalc.com and punch in the power source voltage, led forward voltage, and the current you want to the LED's. Than it will tell you exactly what to use :D
