horrible 360 accident
« on: January 30, 2009, 06:27:06 PM »
Hey all,
today was a sad day in my 360's history
I was doing a rework on the ram with my heat gun and i looked away for a sec because someone was calling me, and I happen to point the gun RIGHT at a capacitor,
I was wondering if there was anywhere i could find a replacement
also, if not a replacement is this fixable?

You can probably find the specs of the capacitor and replace it or desolder one from a dead motherboard to put it on yours?

Don't you tell me what to do, you're just starting trouble.
There is NO way that
I have way to many boards >_>
can be taken as a joke. Maybe make it seem sarcastic instead and it could be.
And again, don't tell me what to do.

I'm sure if you took the busted cap into an electronics store they could help you out...also try find out if its tantalum or electrolytic and get the same kind. I THINK its electrolytic. Not 100% sure though.

Sorry I can't be of further assistance

To do work out the polarity, you can either look at schematics which you don't have lol or use a multi-meter. Put the positive probe on one of the solder pads and the other on ground.

You can use these points for ground, they are under the mobo where you plug in the power cable ( pretty ovious lol, but just making sure):

Hope this helps
Max
