Easy LM386N questions
« on: March 07, 2009, 06:36:33 PM »
Ok, so I'm working on the sound reactive mod of LOrdNico's. I'm currently waiting for a clear housing to come in the mail, and I was thinking that the black electric tape was a bit of an eyesore. So I was thinking about hot glue, It's clear, and will allow me to see the components. Can I cover the LM386n and resistors in hot glue without side affects? Is hot glue is non-conductive? Will I risk overheating the LM386 when it's powered on? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

hot glue should work. It's non-conductive and I don't think it'll affect heat by much. Although if the lm386 get's too hot, the glue will melt... You can always just not cover it. I mean, as long as you isolate it from anything conductive (like maybe cover the mobo near the lm386 with electrical tape) and secure it, it shouldn't short itself out.

cool thanks. Maybe I'll see if I can get away with just tape then glue on the memory stick holder, and the top exposed.
