Finally got one!

I'm a little disappointed that I can't play DMC on it...but other than that it's all good!  I thought the 80GB had a software fix...but apparently it's only in Japan...$ony....c'mon!
Anyway, all I have for it is Time Crisis 4...hopefully the game library will expand with time!
Btw...on a side note, it's good to be back!

Congratulations! I waited a month to get my 60gb but it's so worth it :tup:
btw the software fix is only for the older 80gb models in the U.S. and Japan, not on the newer ones with 2 usb ports

Here is an odd question, I am not sure what either of you mean by "software fix" can you explain a bit if you have time? I have an older PS3 80GB with 4 USBs XD

Since sony took out the Emotion chip from the newer PS3's, they're making a firmware/software patch/fix so that you can play PS2 games on the newer PS3's...or so they've been saying.

the older 80gb still has the GPU of the ps2 so the CPU can still be emulated.  The newer 80gb have NEITHER so I doubt sony will release anything in the future to let you play ps2 games on the newer ps3's.

that's why I waited an extra month for mine  :victory:

I rushed to get my PS3... Back when they were still like 800$ x_x;... It was horrible. Simply, seemed like two weeks or so later they got a price cut T-T

lol my ps3 is one of the newer ones and i put g ps1 disk in and i got a message this ps3 cannot play ps2 games xD it detected a ps1 disk as a ps2 disk
