Wow srry I just read at the begining of this that you can just wire it to the mobo to get it to work for both internal and external is this true and if so what is the mobo?

Mine is almost done, but I need to get my LCD connector fixed which means a new one has to be soldered on... I only have one LED on now because one of them fell on the floor ><  and they are impossible to find.

get a big magnet and go around on the floor
the leds will stick to the magnet ;) that is how i found my fallen led :P

To all of you crying about lag and kicks, remember… when Jesus died, took him 3 days to respawn. Now THAT is lag.

oh um I want left and right because I want to run stereo and I want the light in my left triger to match the sound from my left speaker and so on. But I know how to wire it to the earphone jack but it seems to say I could just wire it to the mobo to get the reaction with and without earphones (stated on first page) and I want to know where to wire it to the mother board for that.

No wat I want to know goes with wat cyberpyrot said in the very first post "Theoreticaly you should be able to wire it to the speaker wire but it will only work for the external speakers.. For both head phones and internal speaker will require you to remove the mobo.." I want to know how to do that and how to do it stereo with the ICs

With ICs it won't light up when there isn't sound, it'll only "pulse" when there is. With a direct connection it'll light up even if there isn't sound and it'll "pulse" when there is. Downside with a direct connection is it'll be a lot dimmer.

k i just completed the sound mod using this :censored::

http://www.mouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=526-NTE823

and now im sure all my wiring is good! the only different thing is i have a switch on my 5v wire. which shouldn't make a difference! after wiring and everything i turn the psp on a the leds are on all the time but fadish and when i play music they react. i like it this way but i wonder if the :censored: is working properly, because the lights should only be on when the psp has music playing.

does any 1337 here like cyberpyrot have an explaination. is it possible the :censored: is not working properly and has made a direct connection. i won't be able to compare the brightness till i finish with the leds that are direct power and going on my dpad and x,o, etc.

but i can assure that my wiring was all good no shorts as i did a very clean job, double checked everything! so it very hard for me to have messed up in making a short or something. but there is always a chance.

will get a picture and video of it up soon when im done my mod (warning it will be webcam)

u think u guys will be able to tell by its brightness?

If you get a huge magnifying glass and flip the led on its backside, you'll see a little arrow pointing in one direction. That's the negative side.

=O I WANNA DO THAT xD IC with fadish lights and pulses  :dribble: Did you use the same resistors as in the tut? Or maybe the LEDs have a low voltage forward rating?

i no that is supposed to be when its a direct wiring to speakers. but i still used the :censored: and its like that! i wanted it that way but chose to use :censored: for brightness and i luckily even got that feature.

i did everything correctly, right resistors and everything.

btw at the end of the mod i ended up with one positive wire to which i wired the leds and then i used the same 5v sources ground for the leds.

is that right? i could use any ground right?

Yup you can use any ground. They're all the same: 0v

If it's and SMD or SMT LED it will have an arrow, if it's one of the bigger styles then I  think it's the longer leg which is the positive one.

@ Gundamseed

the longer connector end of the led that you see at the back is the negative.

let me know if u want a pic ill find one and circle it.

@ PVP

yes as you add more leds you need less resistance as leds them selves are resistance in the circuit. from what i remember someone mentioning at 8 leds u need no resistor. I think for 4 the next closest value is still 10 ohms. u can double check using the resistor calculator:
http://metku.net/index.html?path=mods/ledcalc/index_eng

and info here:
https://www.acidmods.com/Wiki/tiki-index.php?page=Resistors%20and%20calculating%20them.

just calculated ull need 5ohm and the next closest resistor is 5.6ohm, but i would stick with 10ohm.

@nismo
here is the wiki link:
https://www.acidmods.com/Wiki/tiki-index.php?page=PSP%20Sound%20Mod

and here for mono (one speaker) which is easier:

andhere is the diagram for stereo (two speakers):

the space is under wifi board. and make sure ur speaker is connected to mobo. and make sure ur soldering is clean and the wire of the speaker didn't come off.

use 0603 smd leds which u can get from ebay and mouser.com

DON'T use 3mm or 5mm! way to big!
and look at the soldering smd led tutorial in the wiki!

You can either shoehorn the IC under the WiFi board or you can place it next to the WiFi board as shown in the Wiki...

i think my ic made some direct connection as it seems not to be working. because the leds are quite weak!

anyone know if it is my chip?

I managed to fit 3 of the ICs under the wifi board on a TA-082, and a 4 pin dip switch to turn them on. But, of course, the ICs didn't work so I just ripped 'em out and direct wired, because I wanted them to glow slightly anyway.
