has been spotted by someone in a chinese forum. Could this be the long rumored redesign supposed to be released at E3 ???

Looks like it may be the top cover for a ps3 slim but not the whole PS3 slim.

i may consider if i have money as i need a uk ps3 as i can only get usa bluerays and jap dvds

yeah , doesnt seem like the whole thing just parts of it but the box does look legit

Well i'll wait this one out till E3 and get my PS3 sometime in November when we have great deals goin on around here....

Either way I'm probably still sticking with my launch 60gb ps3 (as it can play ps2 games). Unless there's something major that's not included in the previous ps3 I'm not buying it.

BTW I don't think it's going to be release this soon. The ps3 has only been out for like 3-4 now. I think usually they are released on the 5-6 year. I think what E3 has in store for us is a price cut not a new system (I could be wrong)

its not a new system , its like the ps2 slim, they are shifting to a 45nm architecture so will save on the cooling system and as suck the physical size of the parts will decrease and they will be able to use lesser raw materials for building it and will hence save on costs....
also marketing it as a PS3 slim will definitely give it more appeal as something newer and fresher along with a price-cut.

Well look at the PSP... First one came out what, 2005? Now it's 2009, and we're already on the 3rd revision of it. It doesn't take much to release a "slimmed down" version of a system. From what we've seen from Sony's "slimmed down" consoles, the only improvements are a smaller and lighter console, with some minor tweaks.

i think they aregonna do a major improvement on the psp
instead of updates im thinkin a whole new psp eg maby a touch screen
built in camera and what not

Sorry for the bump, but what's the news on a new PS3? I thought I read something about the slim not existing, but that a new PS3 is indeed coming, but in a different way.

As of now no new PS3 whatsoever know about officially but ppl hd rumors of the psp go and it came out so there maybe some new hope(not at E3 though).

Agreed. The video shows barely anything at all except a black object that COULD be a Playstation.
