<56K - PICS> My new Budget beast
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:50:32 PM »
To many of you guys, this isn't much of a beast, but to me, its the fastest computer ive ever seen in real life... Ive been stuck with an 1Ghz AthlonXP and a X1650 Pro for gaming (All DDR, AGP, Socket A, ancient stuff), i have been using that for years and have finally got tired of it and built a new computer. In total it cost me £450 in parts, and took about 40 minutes to build (However I may rebuild it for wire management, and installling new fans and hard drives. The specs;
AMD Phenom X4 2.6Ghz TDP Version Black Edition
Corsair 4GB DDR2 800Mhz 1.8v RAM (Easily overclockable)
Sapphire Radeon 4870 512MB (Silent Effieciency Edition)
500GB WD something something AAKS (The extremely fast 7200rpm HDD, and almost silent)
700w Arctic Power PSU (I know 700w is overkill but i want to futureproof it a bit)
Some gigabyte motherboard which I cannot remember the model of, but it supports everything, AM3, 1066Mhz ram, overclocking, dual bios, etc

Benchmarks (The crysis one is unbelieveable aswell, all this is in DX10 by the way, and maxed out graphics at 1680x1050):
Crysis = 30 FPS Average
Assasins Creed = 80 FPS Average
TF2 = 150 FPS Average
CSS = 225 FPS Average

I have yet to test Mirrors edge, COD4, Prototype, Bioshock and FEAR 2

Here are the pics:

Ignore the picture of me lol, still didnt get changed :3

Anyway yeah its really fast to what im used to, before my pc ran css around 20 FPS... now its 225... like 1150% better, firefox loads instantly (Before like 10 seconds), photoshop takes about 3 seconds (Before was like 2 minutes), just... omg cant believe ive been missing out, ive been playing the hell out of crysis for the past few days (ON ULTRA HIGH!:?!?!?!)

Future upgrades, very soon, new silent and very powerful fans, new cpu cooler to overclock (With thermal paste), extra 500GB AAKS hdd to put into RAID 0, and some rubber case feet

You should have gotten a 640GB AAKS or AALS. They are faster then the 500Gbs and it's only a little more. I don't like Raidmax cases because they are low quality and look cheap.

I heard they were faster, but I couldn't find it, but im happy with what ive got, the drive ive got is virtually silent when idle, and raidmax cases, I was going with an Asus case, but it was too small for a 4870 and it didn't have a window, and something about this case I really like. I won't be opening it much so I guess quaility isn't a big issue for me

I may be replacing the psu, for a modular silent one, the one i got now, I know its reliable because it has hundreds of reviews, thing is its quite loud and hot when im playing games, i have some braiding in my modding room, maybe when I get the new PSU I can put it on before installing it (UV, just need some UV heatshrink though)

wow nice, Im almost go the same case on mine! (my front is a bit diffrent to yours)
 :tup:
Nice, how is it, like after a while, any issues? mine feels quite nice (Nice quote in sig btw lol)

ohh rebal no esd safe wrist band worn, nah jokes, nice build though.
Yeah im a rebel... lol, I usually wear one but I couldn't find it so I just ground myself with the case every few minutes

Added, btw my tagalog serverly sucks lol (Mother never taught me because nobody here speaks it lol)

I am very happy with my new computer, just waiting for some money on some upgrades to make it more quiet... its a tad loud but a WHOLE lot more quiet than my old computer. Also still deciding if I should put vista 64bit on it... get the most out of the ram...

I would just do 32 bit, 64 bit gives people alot of problems some times.

64 Bit is actually really nice.

If it gives you an issue... Fix it. I've run 64 bit for about a year and I haven't had any problems that I haven't attained on 32 bit. :P
