I'm repairing a psp for a customer that he broke while taking it apart, seriously the dude must've opened it with a sledgehammer, here's the list:
Every screw on it was stripped, and the ones that weren't he had just ripped out with a pliers,so I drilled them out and put in replacements.
Various SMD components broken off the motherboard, had to scrape the traces and resolder them back on,total 9 smd components, all of which were surrounded by other smd components, scavenged them from some broken mobo's I had lying around.
Broken headphone connector, the idiot didn't know that you're meant to pull the top of the wifi board upward,he just stuck a screwdriver around the left side and pried upward,so I soldered a new one onto the existing wifi board
Broken wifi switch,I soldered a new one on.
Burnt FPC's,I had some spares lying around
Blown backlight fuse,I dont even know how he managed to get it to blow the backlight fuse after he burnt the FPC's,bridged the fuse anyways.
Short circuits on the powerboard from when he did an "LED swap",surprisingly,I didn't have to replace the powerboard,I just used a desoldering pump, then soldered the smd resistors and led's back on.
Broken backlight connector,so I hardwired the backlight FPC to the mobo.
The list goes on:
missing buttons,
missing triggers,
broken trim,
cracked case,
F'd up speakers,
F'd up UMD drive
This dude is lucky I had all the necessary parts laying around,or else this would've cost him the price of a new psp easily,I charged 75 euro's for the labour and nothing for the parts.I only agreed to do it that cheap because I need the money really bad,if I had charged my normal rate (15 euro's an hour) and charged him for the parts,he'd be well over 200,which is the cost of a PSP 3000 with a 8 gig memstick and 2 games here.
My brain hurts from all the fumes, and that dude owes me a pack of cigarettes, because mine seem to have uh....disappeared
TL;DR Those who want to mod for hire........don't.......ever
That will be all
