Certain FW that supports the max limit of memory?
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:22:15 PM »
Is it true that some certain fw supports only up to 8gb?

But If you update to 5.00m33 it supports like 16gb?
Is it true that ANY Firmware supports UNLIMITED amount of memory capacity?

I think about like 3.xx they changed it because memory capacity was getting bigger, but I think all the latest releases support up to the 16GB-32GB mark, and the last question, nope :|

Thanks for your help.

And do you think 5.00 m33-4 is really stable and reliable cfw?

Im at 3.71 m33-4 and I just order a Photofast CR-5400 adapter.

I might get 16gb x2 microsdhc, thing is I have to update to a higher CFW.

5.00 M33-4 is very stable. I think they made the amount of memory allowed in the TB's. Its been unlimited since like 3.xx M33. Dark Alex did it a long time ago :)

So with 3.71 m33-4 it can hold beyond 16gb?
I saw the Sony official fw history list, that 5.00 they increased the capacity size.

Wow how did Dark Alex made it unlimited when Sony didn't release a patch after couple firmwares.

Sony started upping at 5.00, but Dark Alex realized why wait when all he had to do was alter some of the firmwares code to make it limitless. DA was 1337.

Hell yeah he was :D

The limit is in the TB... 2.3 I believe but nobody have ever gone over 32GB as far as I know without using something like usbhostfs and a pc...

I'm guessing its a hardware limitation atm.... I'm using a CR-3100 internal atm... I'm running 32GB

The max is 32GB. (Shown as 29.7GB in the system(That's due to the varying measures of space that hardware and software systems use))

I've been running a 32GB RAID0 configuration on my psp3000 for a while now, Using a little adapter that holds 2 MicroSDHC cards . I would have gone for dual 32GB sticks but I heard some pretty bad stories about people that tried that and only were able to read 29.9GB. So in my knowledge of coding, It seems to be a limit set deep within the firmware, not just some single variable change would fix this either. A CFW coder will have to look at mostly an entire FW to find any hints of the built in limit. But tbh, I still have 11GB free on my PSP, I have the whole first season of My Little Pony friendship is magic on it, 27 PSP titles in Iso and CSO format, 3 Emulators with over 25 Games each. and I have never really wanted to put anything more on it... I use a PSPgo for all my music so thats 7GB shaved off my use for that final 11GB of data.

P.S
I do not recommend trying to mix two differing capacity cards into a RAID styled adapter like the CR-3100! Raid0 works by striping data across 2 cards instead of 1, usually giving a higher speed of read/write, but in this case gives more capacity, the two cards can NEVER BE USED INDEPENDENTLY AFTER THIS CONFIGURATION! But in my experience with similar setups, a 32GB and a 16GB card or anything to try and get 50 or 58GB of capacity would be a useless experiment, because the hardware needs to have an even slate to write on, and the odd match up would give some pretty serious problems with read/write and capacity count... It most likely would not see the card all together like this.

Cfwpsp's do not have a limit. The limition is in the raid hardware. I own 2 cr3100 and cr5400. The sdhc is limited to 32. So if your raid adapter supports 64+ then it will work. The psp was made unlimited by dark alex.

Don't mean to bump but I feel the info in this thread is inaccurate. Someone said the max is 32gb. My friend just bought 2 32gb micro SD cards for his Photofast 5400 adapter. He now has..59-62gb worth of storage. So far he hasn't reported any issues with read/write times of the two formatted cards, as well as his cards and/or adapter have yet to melt. lol.
I will edit this post to confirm his total storage as well as let everyone know what cfw he is currently using.

If there's an updated thread regarding this same subject matter, please feel free to delete my comment. (I don't have a choice in what Mods decide to do with my posts, still.. feel free.)

New to the forums and just trying to contribute to the collective. d[~_~]b

Direct quote from his email he sent me: " ‎6.60 me-1.6 with the photofast cr-5400 micro sd hc pro duo and two sanddisk 32gb mico sd hc"
