My Clear PS2 ("Project Viperstation") [WIP]

I just got my first job last week (at fry's electronics of all places) and am expecting my first paycheck this upcoming friday. One thing I have always wanted to do is some serious modding. I figured I'd start with some basic rewiring and such of consoles that i already have and work my way into more advanced projects.

My first [serious] project:

"Project Viperstation"

My goal for this project is to make a fully illuminated clear ps2 with a few other adjustments. I will need some help with wiring and such so I will be using this thread to post my questions.

1) I have found a tutorial online that shows my how to internalize my memory card but once I do. What happens if i put a memory card into the memory card slot that already has one wired in? does is read one and not the other or maybe does it think that both are one?

2) Where would be the most accessible power solder point for LEDs and what's the voltage?

I doubt if you have a hardwired + plugged in mem card it'll read at one. Probably read it as corrupted or might read only one. I'm not sure.

it'll read as corrupted
but if you can some how format it with 2 in 1 port then it'll work.
but you will have to keep 2 in at a time all the time or internal wont work

Still highly doubt that would work...


Hey Viper, I've got a question. Where'd you get that case? I wanna do a case mod on my phat ps2 also, but I can't seem to find any sellers that I think i can trust.

I got mine from clearxbox.com however it  arrived with a crack in it as while as missing a small piece of one the corners and it wobbles when set upright. I'm sure it's just from the shipping process but you never know. I personally haven't ordered from them before so I don't know for sure. the price was hella good though.

Yes I'm planning on it. I just need to know the best place to wire them to...

It will without a doubt corrupt and/or break both memory cards and possibly damage the slot,trust me,it's not worth it.

2) Where would be the most accessible power solder point for LEDs and what's the voltage?

Best place IMO is from the power switch board,just make sure you bridge the resistor 1st.
