Serious problem need help
« on: July 19, 2009, 07:42:05 PM »
I'm going to try and make this short

my ps3 got mest up it gave me a red light when it was off like normal then when I tried to turn it on it went green beeped then yellow and turned off back to red it didn't want to give me cod 5 back so I took it apart got my game back put it back together and tried testing it and same thing happened so I took it apart again and looked at every part made sure there's nothing broken burned out of place and everything looks fine so I'm guessing it's software faliure harddrive still works I think cause I put it in to my sisters ps3 and it asks to format it  other then that may be the mother board got mest up I really don't know... yet..

If any body can help me figure out what's wrong with it I'd appreciate it ...

You got the yellow light of death.
the solder heats up and the cpu or gpu becomes separated from the board 98% of the time.
bad power supply 2% of the time.

send it to sony for 150$ + tax.
or fix it yourself following this:

How would it over heat if he just turned it on though? Im guessing the powersupply or something else.
However today I was brutally raped by a door handle, and none of my friends helped me up off the floor after ten minutes, instead they all teabaged me, all 10 of them...

Ok the Ylod is caused from stress on the Motherboard in wich the PS3 is subjected to high temperatures over long periods of time or software issues I have experienced the YLOD 3 times last week from software issues but thats another story what you have sounds like from the PlayStation 3 getting hot and the CPU/GPU has been detatched from the MoBo which causes the PS3 to fail pree boot system tests wich results in the YLOD and flashing red light

the heat gun and thermal paste can be picked up at a local Radio Shack.

If you need anymore help just ask.
