iphone bricked?
« on: July 24, 2009, 08:11:33 PM »
ok i got an iphone 2g from a lady at work for 50 bucks.  i thought the touch screen was broken, but i was very VERY wrong...  the IMEI and ICCID are both unknown.  are these signs of it being bricked or is there hope for it yet? tried both restore and DFU mode, and no dice >.< no clue what FW it is, but i am assuming either 2.2.1 or 3.0 (as she got a 3gS to replace this one) but that may not be the case.  anyone know what i can do?

I remember seeing some CMD's to run to do a fresh restart of an ipod somewhere.
Might be wrong though.

try typing *#06# into your number pad (gives you the IMEI on screen, may repair it somehow). try new SIM card, try JB and unlock if all else fails. but i dont know if any of that will work. The IMEI is unique down to the phone, and networks can even identify what type of phone you have from the IMEI.

The IMEI isn't part of the firmware...

it may be a corrupted baseband, from an unlock attempt gone wrong.

Does the screen turn on? Or is it just black? Did you ask her what happend or what she did berfore this happend to the phone? It could help to solve this problem. Try jailbraking even if you have to do it with a black screen. You never know.......
