Repaired 360 problem
« on: August 02, 2009, 02:39:20 PM »
I just got my 360 back From MS and it will not connect to the windows Media center. It shows up on the network just gives me a Config error after putting in the 8 digit code. It worked fine when it left.

I did twice, the first time they sent me to the media center team and they said to try a different 360 or try it on a different network. The second time they said it was my PC. Also the DVD drive button seems messed up. I have a friend coming over to try his 360 so I can verify and send it back.

If his works then you know it's MS's fault, and they SHOULD take it back and fix it. If not maybe there's a way to reinstall the dashboard (Not sure but to me it sounds like it would work. Never know).

Nope his does not work also. I even went in and deleted the old account on my 360 HDD still no dice. It is on the network I can listen to music and such but I get the nothing out of the Media Extender.

if his dont work either its your pc. try to delete all cookies and and any history of the old device and conect to the new one. when ms fixes these alot of the time they just pullout the guts and put new guts in, this means the media device is new. other than that IDK

Thanks, I found where you can delete the media center Profile on the 360 but not the PC. I'm guessing the media center is still looking for the old 360.

thats what I would assume also, as media center ties these pieces of hardware together using a hard code for that piece of specific hardware, much like a mac or physical address
